The Promise of Homoeopathy

Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine which uses micro-doses of substances that come from all kingdoms of nature; biological, botanical and minerals, to stimulate our bodies own response to overcome illness.

It works on the principle that “Like cures Like” or the “Laws of Similars” which is known to produce a well defined set of symptoms if taken by a healthy person. The same medicine is also used for the sick person who is presenting with the same set of symptoms. Hence the terms above.

Therefore, a homeopathic treatment for hayfever may contain trace amounts of pollens and/or grasses. Drinking too much coffee may make us anxious and restless and make it difficult for us to get to sleep. A homeopathic treatment for sleeplessness or insomnia may contain minute doses of coffee to counteract those symptoms.

Please put aside a minimum of one hour or more for your initial homeopathic consultation. Subsequent consultations generally require approximately 45 minutes. During your initial session, you should expect your practitioner to be taking detailed and extensive case notes in order to gain a complete understanding of your condition and your general state of health. Some of these questions may seem strange and peculiar to you, they may even seem irrelevant, however the more extensive peculiars your homeopath divulges from you, the greater his or her understanding is of your condition, and the finer tuned your homeopathic remedy will be for you, to affect a cure!

Don’t forget: without high-quality information about a patient, a homeopath will have a hard time finding their matching medicine. For this reason, an important part of homeopathic training is learning how to elicit as much reliable psychological and physical information as possible. Homeopath’s also learn how to distinguish between a patient’s true inner state and the superficial mask they may hide behind. Your mental symptoms are just as important as your physical symptoms.
